Fun facts about NCS regionals

May 19, 2018, Saturday
NCS Redwood Empire Meet at Santa Rosa HS Field Events will start at 9:00 a.m. Running Events will start at 10:00 a.m.
NCS 1A at Montgomery Field Events will start at 10:00 a.m. Running Events will start at 11:00 a.m.

First race of the day at the NCS Redwood meet will be heat 1 of the girls 4X1.
That is the slowest heat with only three teams, Montgomery, Ukiah and Maria Carrillo.
Carrillo is really one of the fastest teams in all the NCS but because of a terrible NBL meet will compete in this heat.
I doubt very much anyone has ever won the whole meet in an event from the 1st of 3 heats but this is very possible here.

Boys 1600 fast heat has no NBL runners in it. Expect one or more of them to advance with a top seven time and move to next week.
They keep updating so now Chung is in the fast heat. As they continue to make changes some of my other fun facts could change as well.

Girls 100 hurdles should be exciting with
Lizzie Dolan 14.85 McKinleyville
Habibah Sanusi 14.88 Maria Carrillo

Same in boys race
Cameron De La Torre 14.79 Maria Carrillo
Landon Mispagel 14.99 Justin-Siena

In boys 100 Analy’s Bennett Simpson will finally run against top notch sprinters.

Boys 300 hurdles fast heat is full of NBL & SCL stars making up 6 of the 8 spots.

Top seed time in girls 3200 is 11:21.77.
If the weather is right that time might not even move on.

Same in the boys at 9:45.72.

Boys long jump only has 3 seeds who spanned 20 feet last week. And triple jump only 4 at 40 feet.

Tiny little El Molino has 4 of the top 13 discus throwers in the girls meet.

Santa Rosa girls take up 5 of the top 12 spots in the shot.

In the NCS 1A meet
Except for the pole vault where all the entries are from the CMC, the only top seeds are Fort Bragg’s Eric Portillo in the high hurdles and Rincon Valley Christian’s Robbie Leng in the high jump.
Even Rylee Bowen is seeded no better than fourth.
Expect a number of CMC stars to show better than expected.
