Former Piner runner Kyra Johnson ran the 400 in 55.40 indoors to win her heat and place 4th at the Samford Inv. in Alabama today 2/12/16. Her previous best was 56.55 last month for Fresno State.
The meet records in both the 400 and 200 were broken by Tulane’s Lilla McMillan 54.08/23.61 who you may remember from a great Viking Classic battle with Montgomery’s Alyssa Page in 2011 meet while she was at Tamalpais. McMillan went on to take 3rd at State in the 200 in 2012 HS Championships.
In that same 2011 Viking Classic meet Kyra won the 400/58.78 & 300LH/44.68 plus 2nd 100HH/16.78

Dezirae Johnson had a fine night herself placing 4th in the 800 at 2:12.37.
The Johnson’s then ran half the legs on the 1600m relay team to shatter the old meet record with a time of 3:40.75 and destroyed the field finishing more than 7 seconds up on second place.
