Sonoma Academy’s Rylee Bowen finished 2nd in the Girls 2 Mile Run Emerging Elite (10:47.71) at the 2016 New Balance Indoor Nationals at The Armory in New York.
Bowen opened up a big gap on the rest of the field early on passing the 440 (76 seconds), 880 (2:34) and mile in 5:17.
Bethlehem Taye a senior and the defending Maryland State outdoor 3200m champion passed Bowen just after 7 minutes into the race before pulling away to a meet record 10:35.04.
Bowen’s 2 mile time is equal to a 3200m at 10:43.96.
That time is an Empire 2016 best and a Sophomore class 5th All-Time mark, see below.
