Meet story
El Molino’s Brian Schulz ran the fastest 5k in Redwood Empire history.
His 15:07 10th place finish in the Stanford Seeded race surpassed the old record of 15:08 by Piner’s Luis Luna from the 2011 Stanford race.
Schulz’s time was the 11th fastest from all divisions.
Luna’s 2011 Piner team ran the fastest team time ever since the new Stanford course has been in use since 2008.
Today Maria Carrillo boys, led by very fast 1-2 runners of Ben Lawson 15:39 and Scott Kruetzfeldt 16:10, produced the second fastest time ever for the Empire.
Santa Rosa’s Luca Mazzanati showed blazing 5k speed as well running the 13th fastest 5k ever at 15:31.
In the division III race Casa Grande’s Zachery Esponda (15:58), and Ukiah’s Robert Swoboda (16:02) both placed in the top 10.
Rincon Valley Christian’s Wes Methum had the Empire’s 5th fastest time of the day in 16:02.
